ACHEMA plaque in titanium awarded to Clemens Schmees, CEO of Schmees cast

The ACHEMA Plaque honors personalities who have shown outstanding commitment to the promotion of DECHEMA and ACHEMA. It was donated on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of ACHEMA in 1970 and awarded for the first time at ACHEMA 1973.

Clemens Schmees, CEO of Schmees cast, was awarded the ACHEMA Plaque for his services at ACHEMA 2024 on June 12. In his more than eleven years as a member of the DECHEMA Executive Board, he has acted as an important and successful link between the ACHEMA exhibitors and the DECHEMA Board.

Clemens Schmees (born in 1957) studied casting technology and trained as a welding engineer parallel to his studies. In 1980, he joined his parents' company, EdelStahlwerke Schmees in Langenfeld/Germany, ten years later, he became the CEO. With the acquisition of Copitzer Guß GmbH in Pirna / Germany, the company expanded in 1992. Schmees produces precision cast parts made of stainless steel for the food and pharmaceutical industries, power engineering and pump and valve construction at its sites in Pirna and Langenfeld. In the past years, the manufactory gained recognition for its cast sculptures made of mirror-polished stainless steel for internationally renowned artists.

Claus Schmees has been a member of the ACHEMA Committee since 1997 and, as its representative, he was also a member of the DECHEMA Executive Board for eleven years (2005 to 2016). ACHEMA has always been a matter close to his heart and he puts his passion into it. In these honorary functions, he has been significantly involved in the successful organization of the trade show for many years.
